WIP Wednesday: Chevron

chevron quilt top

Happy Wednesday! This week I was able to finish putting together this chevron quilt top for baby D. I also got the whole thing basted!!! I’m pretty excited about how much I got done, so I’m letting myself forget all of the other things I neglected this week :)

I’m thinking for quilting, I’m going to follow the chevron lines and keep things pretty simple. I can’t decide if I should have the thread color contrast with the fabric or if I should match it and keep the focus more on the chevrons than on the quilting. What do you think?

Sorry only one pic this week, I really need to stop relying so much on my iphone for pics when I have a nice camera. Everything but this came out so blurry. Ooops.

    • Thanks Ava! It’s the only picture that wasn’t blurry. Got lucky with that one. I used safety pins to baste, I have a great blurry picture of that somewhere around here. :)

  1. Wow, it looks great Michelle! Your chevrons are so neat and have the subtle colour changes so I’d be inclined to outline with white thread on the white for quilting. If you wanted to use red thread on the white you could consider hand quilting for an even more stunning statement.

    • Thanks for your suggestion Karen! I took your advice and did white thread on white and I love how it turned out! I wish I had time to hand quilt some of it… babies and their not waiting to be born :)

      • Good point! I hadn’t really thought about that part of it. I am getting addicted to how fast machine quilting goes. It’s going to be harder and harder to get motivated to hand quilt :)

  2. This quilt top is stunning and beautiful. Baby D is going to be one classy baby. I would love this quilt for myself.

    I agree 100% with Karen’s suggestions.

  3. I love the simplicity of this colour palette! It looks fantastic and is really eye-catching. I’ve always wanted to do a chevron quilt – yours is very inspirational!
